Meet George Mackey

2021 marks the 41st season for Ticonderoga Golf Course Head Golf Professional, George Mackey, the longest serving golf pro in Ticonderoga Golf Course history.

George has truly experienced the evolution of Ticonderoga Golf Course, and through all the change, we are grateful for his steady presence. We asked asked George our top 5 TGC questions!

What is your favorite hole on the course?

To be honest, I can’t really pick one. #3, #7, and #16 are really great risk reward holes. How can you not love our gorgeous, par-3, #13? For challenge and difficulty, it’s #10, #12, and #14!

What was your best round at Ticonderoga Golf Course?

Prior to the new layout, the best round I had was a 68. With the new layout, my best 9s were 36 on the Front and 37 on the Back.

What is your fondest memory at TGC?

I would say my fondest memory is all the great people that I’ve met and worked with over the years. There are too many to mention.

What is your hope for the course for the future?

My hope is that Ticonderoga Golf Course continues its movement toward becoming a destination to play golf and have an amazing meal at the new Seymour’s Restaurant – for people from Albany to Montreal.

What are you looking forward to during the 2021 season?

I’m looking forward to seeing so many projects come to fruition so that we can all enjoy our beautiful course and clubhouse.
