Dear Members and Friends of Ticonderoga Golf Club,
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Vella as the new Golf Course Superintendent of Ticonderoga Golf Club.
Earlier this month, Mike Stitt informed the Board that he would be stepping down to pursue a new professional opportunity. During his tenure, Mike made a meaningful and lasting impact on our course. His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence elevated the playing experience for all of us. We are grateful for his service and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.
Mike Vella brings more than 43 years of experience in golf course maintenance, construction, and agronomic leadership. Most recently, he served as Superintendent at Saranac Inn Golf Club for the past five years, overseeing another historic Seymour Dunn-designed course. His deep experience in northern-climate operations, hands-on leadership style, and practical approach to course management align well with Ticonderoga Golf Club’s needs and vision.
Building on the solid foundation established by our prior Superintendents, we are confident that Mike’s experience and leadership will help us to continue to improve course conditions and long-term stewardship of our property.
When you see Mike on the course this spring, please join us in welcoming him to the Club. And if you see Mike Stitt around town or playing the course, he helped shape, we hope you will thank him for his contributions.
Spring will be here before we know it. The snow will melt, the fairways and greens will appear, and we look forward to another great season together.
